Two problems. Two proposed solutions.
The Lab works in two focus areas: eradicating poverty through a proposed new economic system, and animal welfare. Both are in development. Each has a short page explaining the problem, the proposal, and what research must answer.
Eradicating Poverty
A New Economic System
- The problem
- Households can go without essentials when money runs short, while local small businesses struggle with unsteady demand.
- Proposed solution
- A proposed "Middle Layer Economy" that would connect people directly with goods and services from local businesses, with funding settled in the background.
Animal Welfare
Supply and Demand
- The problem
- Industrial animal agriculture is held in place both by built capacity and by the purchasing decisions of large institutions.
- Proposed solution
- Two approaches in design: voluntary, permanent retirement of factory-farm capacity, and shifting institutional food procurement toward plant-based meals.
Conversations underway
What the next steps would be.
Proposed or in development, not active projects. No dates, budgets, or staffing are attached because none have been set. Each step names its deliverable and the evidence gate it must pass.
- 01Ending poverty
Turn the white paper into testable assumptions
Deliverable. A public list of the proposal’s assumptions, each paired with the evidence that would confirm or refute it.
Evidence gate. Published before any feasibility claim is made.
Proposed - 02Ending poverty
Feasibility review: funding, inflation, fraud, administration
Deliverable. A written analysis of the open questions, inviting outside critique from economists and benefits specialists.
Evidence gate. No pilot design proceeds unless this review finds a credible path.
Proposed - 03Ending factory farming
Baseline method for institutional menus
Deliverable. A measurement protocol for plant-forward shifts, built on the published measurement framework.
Evidence gate. A baseline is required before any change is reported.
In development - 04Both missions
Bounded pilot design with a willing institution
Deliverable. A written scope with success and stop conditions, agreed before work begins.
Evidence gate. Results enter the Impact Ledger only with a source.
Proposed
Have expertise or an institution suited to one of these? Start an institutional inquiry or apply to the Coalition.
Proposals, not results
Neither mission claims verified impact. Anything the Lab counts must first appear in the public Impact Ledger with a source, under the published measurement framework.
